So I’m taking a break from my siblings posts and I just want to talk about culture. My culture in specific. I guess culture isn’t really the right word for it but that’s what I’m going to call it for lack of a better term.

Now, I’m American. Born and raised here. I’m also Irish (And psyched for Saint Patricks day!) and German. But that’s just my heritage. I’ve always been fascinated by Chinese culture and their language. Ever since I started watching the animated show, Sagwa, when I was little I’ve been in love with China. I always thought it was weird but then I realized that God gives us passions to use for His glory! I want to go on a missions trip to China one day and bring people there to know Him.
But learning Chinese is really hard to learn, and its even harder when you have to teach yourself. So I’ve really been slacking on that. I can get really frustrated with not being able to learn to phoenix of it and getting my tones just right. Though I have been able to learn a bible verse. I know 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17.
   or in pinyin:
Yào chángcháng xǐlè, bù zhùdì dǎogào
That says “Rejoice always; pray without ceasing.”

I love everything about Chinese culture! I have some Chinese cups on my desk in my room along with a scroll on my wall. In China, the color red is considered lucky. They also celebrate other holidays like the Moon Festival.

But one sort of culture that has really started to grow on me is Deaf Culture. I’ve know some sign language since I was a baby because my mom always teaches some signs to us kids while we’re babies because we can pick it up faster. But I’ve never really thought of it as a culture. I’ve been talking more with my friend from church and she knows ASL like she was deaf herself! She’s amazing at it! She also knows a ton about their culture and I love hearing about it from her. She’s been teaching me and another friend of mine to sign and its really cool! Another reason why I’ve been able to get ASL easier than Chinese, is I have people who understand it. I can frequently sign a conversation with the people who are learning it with me. That helps a LOT!
I feel bad because I’ve not had trouble picking up American Sign Language and have been neglecting my Chinese. Though I’m trying to understand how hard it is and to give myself a break. But each culture I love is amazing in it’s own way. I love all of them. Maybe one day I’ll actually be good at speaking (or signing) all their languages. I really hope so.
What about you? Are you passionate about any languages or cultures in particular?

Hi! As most of you are aware I have been dedicating a post to each one of my siblings as are some other bloggers. To see each post you can click on the ‘My Family’ tag on the right side of my blog and that’ll show you all the other posts.

So people keep telling me that they can’t wait to read what I post about my older brother, Shane. Apparently they’re all really excited to read it. So just to keep them all waiting, I’m doing the blog about him last. *evil laugh* That means today’s post will be about my little sister, Lois.

Lois was named after a bible study teacher that my mom had who passed away a while back. My mom always said that she would name her baby girl Lois, and even told her that. Lois had told her not to name a baby after her but after having a few kids we now have little Lo Lo.

Lois is pretty much the definition of girly. She just adores dresses and the colors pink and purple. If you asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would say “A princess.” She also loves doing ballet along with any sort of dancing. Even with all this, Lois has definitely learned from me. She can name pretty much all the X-Men, all the Avengers and pretty much any Marvel character out there. She’s a geek genius. And she’s only a preschooler. Just like me, she also likes dying her hair. Right now she has a little purple streak in the front. We love doing our hair weird colors:)

This is some of her dancing to a song that her and Shane did for a talent show at our youth group. The funniest part is at the end when she quits because she wants to eat her cupcake…

I just love Lois. When we picked that name before she was born I told my mom that if that was going to be her name then no one could object if I called her Lowbacca. (Like, from Star Wars. Chewies nephew.) So especially recently she’s been asking me why I call her Lowbacca. I needed to tell her it was from Star Wars and in the books, they call Lowbacca, Lowie. Which is another of her nicknames. It works.

This little girl is just the light of my life. I remember holding her when she was a baby and singing her to sleep. I was so thrilled when I got a sister after having 3 boys in a row. I love cuddling her and playing with her and tickling her. We have this thing where we try and see who loves each other more. I’ll say I love you and she’ll say “I love you more.”

   “I love you most.”
“I love you more than you love me.”
“I love you to the moon and back.”
   “I love you infinity!”
“I love you infinity plus never ending!”
“I love you infinity plus never ending plus 12!”

And so on. Don’t ask why but Lois seems to think that “Plus 12” is the ultimate trump card.

I think I could probably post a trillion and 3 pictures of her. She loves posing for pictures and since I love photography, we make the ultimate team.

The collage one is pretty much all of the best pictures of her. She’s adorable. Yes, she can be a drama queen, but she’s also a princess. One time she told me “When there’s a storm, I don’t have to be afraid! Because God is with me!” I think we can all learn from those wise words from this little girl.

So yeah! That’s my sister for you. I love her to death. I can’t wait to see her personality come out more as she gets older. She’s going to be a great young woman of God one day:)

Because Loki

Now I shall take a break from all this hard core blogging about my siblings to blog some random pictures and such of someone very awesome.

If you guessed Loki, you’re right.

Yes, I’m one of those weird people who likes Loki (though I can guarantee its from a completely different reason than everyone else. Just trust me on this one.) So I decided I wanted to share my love for Loki with you, my amazing followers! (And random people checking out my blog. You need to like Loki too.) They say a picture is worth a thousand words; well in the aspect…this is gonna be one looooooooooong blog post.

If you don’t think at least one of these pictures is amazing then well….yeah I’m just going to leave it at that.

And then here’s one of my favorite scenes in the Avengers. I especially LOVE the very last part of this clip, where Thor throws the dagger behind him. Man, people from Asgard are just straight up awesome!

So yeah. Who is your favorite Avengers character and why? And what was your favorite scene in the movie and of course, why was it your favorite.

May the Force be with you 🙂

Yes, it’s true that neither Becca nor Joy have blogged (Joy is the newest addition to this little sibling blog post challenge Becca issued to me.) but since today is my little brother Ryne’s 2nd birthday I probably would have blogged about him anyway. Besides…

So now, onto talking about my brother. Well, his name is Ryne and he’s named after Ryne Sandberg from the Cubs baseball team. Just like his namesake, Ryne loves sports, though mostly hockey…

Ryne seriously lights up my life. He makes me happy and I love hugging him and playing with him and listening to him laugh when I tickle him. He’s so funny and he has the best laugh ever. I also adore listening to him talk! His voice….ahhh 🙂 But one of the greatest things in life is when he falls asleep in my arms. Like….wow. There are just no words to describe it. I love this baby to pieces.

Ryne also loves Doctor Who. (Though he calls him Doctor Who instead of just the Doctor. But he’s young.) If you can’t tell with this video, my brother is kind of the most adorable kid on the planet and I am so blessed by him every day. Like tonight at dinner he prayed and all we got out of it was “Dear God, thank you…” and the rest was gibberish. Or earlier we sang happy birthday to him and then he just shouted “Again!” He just does these little cute things that make everyone smile. We found out that my mom was pregnant at a really hard time for my family, but It was God’s way of giving us a blessing. We didn’t even know our family wasn’t complete. My Mom probably wouldn’t have chosen that for herself, but God knew we needed a little crazy Doctor Who loving, sports fanatic boy in our family.

Little Rynerz brings us so much joy and I thank God for him. I can’t wait to see the little man of God he’s going to be.

Hello! It is yet again time for me to write a post about a sibling of mine. I know what you’re thinking. “But she already wrote like…3.” Well, I have 7 siblings. So there’s still more to go. My mom is also pregnant and she wants me to blog about that one too. That one should be fun.

But before I start talking about my little brother, I want to inform you that my friend Joy has started a blog! She draws comics and she’s amazing at it. You can check out her amazing blog here.

Now, I would like to tell you about my 6 year old brother, Anakin.

Just take a minute to let that sink in.

I’m sorry, if you don’t think that’s the coolest name ever then something must be wrong with you. I love Anakin. He’s so cool. He can be really shy at times, but other times he’s insane! He loves spending time with me and watching Star Wars with me and I really do like spending time together.

He’s a really nice kid and he loves playing with his brothers and little sister. The kid is really smart too! He’s a genius when it comes to playing chess and building puzzles. I have no idea how he does it but its awesome. He can put together huge puzzles all by himself. I thank God so much for giving me him. He’s such a little blessing!

(Oh, and while I’m blogging, I want to direct you all over to my Facebook Page!!! Like it and then we can be even better friends! Ok? Cool! You guys rock!)

Well, I was going to go to bed but someone *cough* Becca *cough* was urging me to reply to her post about her older brother, so now I need to blog. In case you were unaware, we’re in a blog war. Each of is trying to top the other in saying nice things about our siblings.

   I’m obviously winning.

Today I will post about my little brother….Noah! Yes, he is named after the guy from the bible who built the ark. (You should see all the stuffed animals on his bunk bed.) Now Noah…He’s a funny guy. He’s 8 years old but he’s the height of a 5 year old, and I say that in the best way possible. I love him being short 🙂 I’ve really started to see more and more of his personality come out recently. I’m really starting to see the kind little boy he is. He loves helping me and the family and he’s always super sweet, he’ll hug me if I’m crying and he always compliments me and thanks me when I cook.

He may be short but beware! He loves to play Call Of Duty because he’s really into military stuff and loves to wear camouflage. He’s also on my AWANA team and really, the kid is a boss. He’s great at saying bible verses and answering questions. He’s really close with Gordon and I hardly see one without the other. A lot of people think they’re twins. (How they think that I really don’t know…)
But I love talking with Noah and music and playing video games with him. He’s a fun kid. Whenever he goes to his friends house he always says bye to me and gives me a hug and I think its adorable and it makes me smile. I am so thankful for him!

Well, as many of you know, my last post was kind of a random little post about my sister, Dayle. But my dear friend, Becca, has challenged me to make a post about each one of my siblings and she will do the same. You can check out the challenge post here. Now, I could say so much more about my sister but today I want to post about my little brother, Gordon.

Gordon is almost a little boy version of me. He’s a geek and a gamer. He lives for video games. He loves Star Wars and X-Men and Percy Jackson and we talk about those all the time. He’s hilarious and he is a little man of God. I love to play video games with him, mostly Lego games and Black Ops. (He wins every time.)

I love having him as a little brother; he’s so much fun to be around. I have no idea what I would do without him. He helps cheer me up when I’m sad and he really brings a lot to the family. Yes, there are times where I want to throw him across the room, but I love him.

If you don’t have a little brother to talk Star Wars with or teach you video games, then I feel sorry for you. Because they’re a lot of fun!

My Sister

Wellllllll hello everyone! How are you all doing? I have had a packed week! I spent a few days at a friends house staying up way too late and for this weekend I’m off to go see a comedian with some other friends! The cool thing is…its all going to be in American Sign Language because the comedian is deaf. So this should be quite an interesting experience. Plus I’ve only been learning ASL for a few months.
I hope you all had a great Valentines Day!
So this post is actually going to be about my sister, Dayle. She’s so weird. But I have been so blessed to know her and to be her big sister. She’s my best friend and we’ve been through a lot together. So this post is in honor of Dayle. Enjoy!
This is a weird video of Dayle trying to lick her fingers with her cast on. (She fell off a chair and fractured her arm…idk if the video will work but hey!)

This was on the laptop me and my sister share…I pressed the folder and it lead me to the next picture and so forth.

A folder, inside a folder, inside a folder, inside a folder. Folder inception.

Possibly more to come words wise. But until then, have fun with the pictures:)
And if you have a sister, hug them and cherish them. Take weird videos and pictures with them and tell them you love them. Because I know some people who don’t have siblings or sisters and honestly…I don’t know what I would do without my two sisters!

May the Force be with you!

Shine On Award

Hello! Since I really have nothing to say right now I thought I should do this. Because its fun and its my blog soooooo yeah. Besides, the amazing Solace Utara gave me the Shine On Award so I am very excited to answer some questions about myself! Yay!

First off, the rules for this are as follows:
   1. Link back to the blogger who nominated you.
   2. Post the badge on your blog
   3. Answer the questions posed to you.
   4. Nominate your favorite 5 bloggers and tag them in the post. (and notify them)
   5. Issue some questions for them to answer.

I don’t know if anyone ever cares to read this stuff but hey! They’re fun! And since my blog is almost always a bunch of seriousness I’m allowed to have some fun. Now its question time!

   Who’s your role model?

My mom! She’s the best!

   Why do you blog?

Because I love writing and sharing my thoughts with people. I think its even cooler that people care to read the things I have to say!

   How do you view Twilight?

Oh goodness….don’t even get me started. I hate that series. Its just awful.

   Describe your style of writing.

Umm….that’s a tough one. My writing style is kinda boring at times. I try and capture every detail instead of leaving it up to the imagination I guess. Which I need to work on.

When do you get a stroke of inspiration?

Listening to music! Music really helps me clear my mind and when my mind is all a jumbled mess it helps me to sort it all out.

What do you do with your stroke of inspiration?

I’ll listen to the song or whatever that sparked it and I’ll just leave it on repeat. Or I’ll pull out my writing laptop or my creative writing notebook and write it down.

Yay! So now 5 bloggers…..Drum roll please?

(Yes, there are only 4. I know how to count. Don’t question me.)
   Your questions are:

   1. What’s your dream job?
   2. Dogs or cats? Explain your answer.
   3. Favorite standalone film?
   4. Favorite band?
   5. Why do you blog? (I’ll steal that one from Solace.)

Have fun! I can’t wait to see what you guys have to say! Thanks for reading! As for other news I don’t have much. I’m excited for later today because I’m going to be going over to my youth group leaders house to talk about an outreach night I’ve been planning for over a year and a half! Yes! I’ve been seeing her weekly and I really like it. It’s really good to get advice and talk to an older Godly woman. It’s been great. So yeah! Happy Wednesday!:D

Judgement And Gossip

So this is a topic I have frequently thought about and it drives me crazy when I do. Because its not something I should have to worry about. But since it is I guess I should discuss it here. The other day I talked to a lady about gossip and people judging each other. Now, I’m homeschooled so you know the place we were talking about this sort of thing happening?

Can anyone tell me whats wrong with that? If you can’t then allow me to explain. We are the CHURCH! We are God’s children! We are called to be separated from the rest of the world and be different! Yet…we aren’t doing a very good job at that.

I don’t know about your church or your friends but I know about mine. I know they have a problem with gossip. Everyone knows about everything and blah blah blah. I’ve seen gossip tear friends apart and tear a single person down. It’s nasty. So why do we take part in it? We do more then simply take part in it, we enjoy it! Does gossip accomplish anything? No. It has no purpose other then to seek and tear down others. Its selfish. Let’s see what the bible has to say about gossip.

I really like this verse. It’s specifically geared towards women since we are notorious for being gossips.

“Woman must likewise be dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things.” -1 Timothy 5:11

Proverbs 20:19 says “He who goes about as a slander reveals secrets, therefor do not associate with gossip.”

Those are strict commands! Stay away from gossip! Its not right. It’s a sin. It hurts other people and it will cause you trouble as well. I hate how its such a big thing in our church. I hate admitting it, but its true. I know I can’t stop everyone from saying things about others but there are a few things I can do, and will do. Like encourage people to stop gossiping, or to stop the talk when I do hear it. Most people have a tolerance for it. Everyone knows its wrong, yet we don’t stand up to stop it either.

Another thing is judging others. You know exactly what I mean. Like when that girl walks in to youth group and she has a nose piercing and all you can think is “Oh, she’s a trouble maker.” STOP JUDGING PEOPLE FOR GOODNESS SAKE! Jesus hung out with the sinners and the lowly and He calls us to reach out to them as well! We aren’t better then them! I know I’m a sinner and I don’t deserve to have grace! I’m a Christian because I know I’m not perfect and I mess up daily. But Jesus died for me. The sinner.

When you judge people you think yourself higher than the person you are judging, when in reality, we’re all in the same boat. So let’s stop the hate. That’s so cliched but the most cliched things are usually the most true. Stop gossip and judging and hating. Especially in the Church. We are God’s kids and if we portray God’s kids as slanderers and gosspips…why should people come to Christ? You are a representative of Jesus Christ. Act like one.

This is one of my favorite clips from the movie To Save A Life. Enjoy:)

Also, a special shout out to my 20th follower -A LoveAlwaysAnonymous
Thank you for following me and being my 20th follower! And thank you for everyone who got me to that number! May the Force be with all of you!
